Senior Social Worker Full Time

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to work with us at the Health & Human Services Agency in San Diego County, CA. As a Senior Social Worker, you will help people and families who need assistance, give them advice, and help them find resources to improve their lives.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Social Worker, your job will be to support people who are facing problems like emotional stress, health issues, or other tough situations. You will talk to them, understand their needs, and help them find solutions. You’ll also work with other helpers like doctors, schools, and community centers to make sure everyone gets the help they need.

This is a full-time job in San Diego, and we are looking for someone who is kind, helpful, and knows how to listen to others.

Responsibilities:

In this job, you will have many important tasks. Some of your responsibilities include:

• Talking to clients: You will meet with people and listen to their concerns. You’ll learn about their problems and figure out what help they need.
• Making care plans: After talking to clients, you will create a plan that helps them get the support and services they need.
• Helping in emergencies: If someone is in crisis, you will help them right away. This could include helping with safety plans or offering emotional support.
• Giving counseling: You will talk to clients one-on-one or in groups to help them feel better, solve problems, and cope with life’s challenges.
• Working with other helpers: You will work with other professionals like doctors, teachers, and police officers to make sure clients get the right support.
• Keeping records: You will write down important information about each client and keep track of their progress.
• Standing up for clients: You will make sure your clients get the services and help they need and deserve.

Qualifications:

We want someone who is experienced, caring, and excited to help others. Here are the skills and experience we are looking for:

Required Skills:

• Good Communication: You should be able to talk clearly and write well so people can understand you. You will need to explain things in a way that’s easy to understand.
• Listening Skills: You need to listen carefully when people are sharing their problems. This helps you understand what they need.
• Empathy: You must care about other people’s feelings and want to help them through tough times.
• Problem Solving: You will need to find ways to help people solve their problems, even when the situation is tough.
• Being Organized: You will have many tasks to manage, so being organized and on top of things is very important.
• Working with Others: Even though you will be working with clients on your own, you will also need to work well with a team to make sure clients get the best help.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience Helping People in Difficult Situations: It would be helpful if you have worked with people who are dealing with challenges like mental health problems, drug abuse, or homelessness.
• Crisis Training: If you have training on how to help people in emergencies, it would be a big plus.
• Knowledge of Local Resources: Knowing what programs and services are available in San Diego to help people will be very useful.
• Speaking Another Language: If you can speak more than one language, like Spanish, it will help you reach more people who need help.

Education and Experience:

• Education: You need to have a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a school that is recognized and approved.
• Experience: You should have at least 2 years of experience working in social work or a similar field. It’s great if you’ve worked with people who need social services or community support.
• License: It’s helpful if you have a California Social Worker License (LCSW). If you don’t have it yet, you should be willing to get it after starting the job.
