Job Summary
As a Client Service Specialist in Refugee Health Services, your job will be to help refugees understand and access health services. You will answer their questions, help them set up appointments, and make sure they have the right paperwork. Your kindness and clear communication will be very important in helping people feel comfortable and supported.
Responsibilities
In this job, you will do many important things. Here are some of your main responsibilities:
- Help Clients: You will greet clients with a smile and help them find the services they need. You will answer their questions and guide them through the process.
- Schedule Appointments: You will set up appointments for clients with doctors and other healthcare providers. You will make sure they know where to go and what to expect.
- Assist with Paperwork: You will help clients fill out forms, like health history and insurance applications, so they can get the care they need.
- Connect to Resources: You will help clients find other services, like housing, education, and job support, to help them settle in the community.
- Be Culturally Sensitive: You will respect and understand the different backgrounds of clients and provide services in a way that makes them feel welcome.
- Keep Records: You will make sure all client information is kept safe and organized, following privacy rules.
- Work as a Team: You will collaborate with doctors, community organizations, and other staff to ensure clients get complete support.
- Outreach Activities: You will participate in events to reach out to the refugee community, sharing information about the services we provide.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you need some special skills and experience. Here are the qualifications we are looking for:
Required Skills
- Good Communication: You should be able to speak and write clearly to help clients and healthcare providers.
- Empathy: You should care about helping others and be kind to people who need support.
- Organizational Skills: You should be good at keeping track of appointments and paperwork.
- Problem-Solving: You should be able to find solutions to help clients quickly.
- Team Player: You should enjoy working with others and contribute to a friendly workplace.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual: If you speak another language that refugees might use, that would be a great help.
- Health Knowledge: Understanding how health services work and community resources can be beneficial.
- Cultural Understanding: Experience working with different cultures will help you relate better to clients.
Education and Experience
- Education: You need to have a high school diploma or equivalent. If you have a degree in social work, public health, or something similar, that’s a plus.
- Experience: It’s helpful to have worked in customer service, healthcare, or social services before. If you have experience with refugees, that’s even better!
