Job Summary
As an Occupational Health Nurse, your main job will be to take care of the health and safety of workers. You will check their health, help with injuries, and make sure the workplace is safe. You will also give advice on how to stay healthy at work and prevent problems like injuries or sickness. You’ll work with the people who run the company to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy.
Your work will help everyone stay well and keep their jobs, and that makes a big difference!
Responsibilities
In this job, your main tasks will include:
- Checking workers’ health: You will help check if workers are healthy or if they need medical help.
- Giving first aid: If a worker gets hurt, you will give first aid and make sure they get the help they need.
- Helping with injuries: You will help workers fill out forms for workers’ compensation if they get hurt and track their recovery.
- Creating health programs: You will help set up programs to teach workers how to stay healthy at work, like teaching them to lift safely or take breaks when needed.
- Training workers: You will show workers how to stay healthy by teaching them things like good posture and ways to reduce stress.
- Keeping health records: You will keep records of the workers’ health, injuries, and treatment. This is important to make sure they get the help they need.
- Working with managers: You will work closely with managers to find ways to make the workplace safer and help workers stay healthy.
Qualifications
To do well in this job, you will need:
Required Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) License: You must have a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in California.
- Experience: It’s important that you have some experience working as a nurse, especially in helping people with work-related health problems.
- Good Communication: You need to be able to talk and write clearly to explain things to workers and managers.
- Problem-Solving: You will need to think quickly and help solve problems when workers get hurt or feel sick.
- Confidentiality: You must keep workers’ health information private and follow the rules for keeping records safe.
- Caring Attitude: You should enjoy helping people and be kind to others when they need medical care.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Certification in Occupational Health Nursing: If you have extra training in Occupational Health Nursing, it’s a plus, but it’s not required.
- Other Languages: If you speak another language, like Spanish, it can help you communicate with more workers, but it’s not required.
- First Aid or CPR Certification: If you have extra first aid or CPR training, that’s also a plus!
Education and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): It’s best if you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, but if you have an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), we will still consider you if you have good experience.
Experience:
- You need to have at least 2 years of experience working as a nurse. If you have experience working in a setting where you helped people with health issues at work, that’s great!

Salary and Benefits
Salary:
The salary for this job depends on how much experience you have. You can expect to earn between $75,000 and $90,000 a year.
