What Is a Licensed Vocational Nurse?
A Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is an essential member of any healthcare team. In this role, you’ll assist patients, provide medical care, and support doctors and registered nurses (RNs). Your work will directly improve patients’ comfort, safety, and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Monitor patients’ health and check vital signs
- Assist patients with daily care and ensure they feel safe and supported
- Report health changes to the supervising nurse or doctor
Administering Medication
- Give medications as prescribed
- Observe for any side effects or reactions
- Follow proper procedures for safety and accuracy
Medical Procedures
- Prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Assist RNs and doctors during medical treatments
- Ensure proper cleanliness and infection control practices
Documentation and Communication
- Keep clear and accurate records of patient care
- Communicate with healthcare team members about patient needs
- Use electronic health records (EHR) systems to document updates
Patient and Family Support
- Explain care instructions to patients and their families
- Offer emotional support and guidance
- Answer basic questions about medications, treatments, and follow-up care

Required Qualifications
