Program Supervisor, Public Health Full Time

We are looking for a Program Supervisor to help lead important public health programs in San Diego County. You will work with a team to make sure that people in the community stay healthy, get the right care, and learn how to take care of their health.

Job Summary:

As a Program Supervisor in Public Health, you will be in charge of managing programs that help keep people healthy. Your job will be to make sure everything runs smoothly, help your team, and work with others to bring good health services to the community.

You will be a leader, so you need to be a good listener, good at solving problems, and ready to make decisions that help others. Your work will help improve the health of families and communities, and your efforts will make San Diego County a better place to live.

Responsibilities:

As a Program Supervisor, you will have many important tasks:

• Managing Programs: You will oversee public health programs to make sure they are working well and helping the community. This includes planning, organizing, and making sure everything is running as planned.
• Leading Your Team: You will be in charge of a team of people who work on these programs. You will give them guidance, support them, and make sure they do their best work.
• Checking Program Progress: You will keep track of how well the programs are working. You will look at data, check reports, and find ways to make the programs better.
• Working With Others: You will work with other groups, like health organizations, schools, and local governments, to help make sure everyone gets the health services they need.
• Managing Resources: You will help decide how to use resources, like money and people, to make the programs work better.
• Helping Create Health Policies: You may help create rules or plans that help improve public health in the community.
• Talking to the Community: You will help spread important health information to the community. This could include giving talks or working with local groups to make sure people know how to stay healthy.
• Training Staff: You will help train your team so they can do their jobs well and learn more about health issues.

Qualifications:

To do this job well, we are looking for someone who has the following skills:

Required Skills:

• Leadership: You need to be able to lead a team, help them work together, and make sure the work gets done well.
• Communication: You need to be able to talk clearly with your team, other groups, and the people in the community. This means speaking, writing, and listening well.
• Problem-Solving: You should be able to solve problems and make decisions that will improve health programs.
• Public Health Knowledge: You need to understand how to keep people healthy, what makes them sick, and how to help prevent health problems.
• Teamwork: You must enjoy working with others and be able to get along with different people to get things done.

Preferred Skills:

It would be helpful if you have any of these skills:

• Bilingual: If you speak more than one language, especially Spanish, that would be a big plus because it will help you communicate with more people in the community.
• Writing Grants: If you know how to write and manage health-related grants (money for programs), it would be very helpful.
• Public Speaking: If you’re good at speaking in front of groups, that will help you spread health messages to the public.
• Technology Skills: Being able to use computer programs and health management tools would be useful.

Education and Experience:

Education:

• You need to have at least a Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, or a related field.
• If you have a Master’s degree in public health (MPH) or healthcare administration (MHA), that would be a plus.

Experience:

• You should have at least 3 years of experience working in public health.
• You should have at least 1 year of experience as a leader or supervisor, helping others do their work.
• Experience working with people from different backgrounds or communities will also be helpful.

Location:

This job is in San Diego County, California. You will mostly work at the County’s office, but you may need to travel to different places in the county to visit communities, programs, and meetings.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary: The salary for this job is between $70,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on your experience and skills.
