Job Summary
As a Nutritionist, your main job will be to help people eat better and live healthier. You will meet with people, talk to them about their food choices, and create meal plans that are easy to follow. You will also teach the community about good nutrition, showing them how to make healthy meals and snacks.
You’ll be working with other health professionals to support people who need help with nutrition, whether it’s to manage weight, prevent disease, or support a healthier lifestyle. This job is all about helping people make small changes that lead to big improvements in their lives.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll have several important tasks that all aim to help people stay healthy and happy. Here’s what you’ll do:
Meeting with Clients
- Talk to people about what they eat, their health goals, and how they want to improve.
- Check if they have any health issues that good nutrition could help.
Making Nutrition Plans
- Create meal plans that are easy to follow, tasty, and good for each client’s health needs.
- Make plans that work for clients’ budgets, food preferences, and lifestyle.
Teaching and Supporting
- Teach people about the benefits of healthy foods and simple ways to improve their diets.
- Hold classes or group talks to help people learn about good eating habits.
- Visit schools, community centers, and other places to spread awareness about nutrition.
Checking on Progress
- Follow up with clients to see how they’re doing with their nutrition goals.
- Give helpful tips and encouragement to keep clients motivated.
Working with Health Teams
- Work with doctors and other healthcare workers to give clients the best support.
- Share helpful nutrition information with other health professionals.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who loves working with people and has a strong interest in food and health. Here’s what will make you a great fit:
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of nutrition and healthy eating.
- Ability to explain things in a way that’s easy to understand.
- Able to make personalized plans that fit each client’s needs.
- Friendly and good at listening to people’s needs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with different cultures and their food habits.
- Experience teaching or talking in front of groups.
- Knowledge of how good nutrition can help with long-term health.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) is a plus.
- Some experience in a clinic or community health setting is helpful but not required.
Location
This job is in the County of San Diego, CA. You may visit different locations around the county to meet clients and hold classes.
