Infection Control Specialist Full Time

As an Infection Control Specialist, you will help stop the spread of infections and teach others how to stay healthy. You will work with doctors, nurses, and other health workers to keep people safe and healthy.

Job Summary

As an Infection Control Specialist, you will make sure that infections are controlled and prevented in hospitals and other health places. You will check if places are clean and safe and help people know how to stop the spread of germs. You will also help when there is an outbreak of sickness, like when many people get the same disease at once. You will teach people what to do to stay safe and make sure they follow the rules to prevent infections.

This job is very important because it helps protect everyone’s health. You will be part of a team that works together to make sure that people stay safe and healthy!

Responsibilities

Here are the things you will do as an Infection Control Specialist:

1. Keep track of infections: You will check how often people get sick and look for patterns. If there is a lot of sickness, you will find out why.
2. Prevent infections: You will help doctors and nurses by making sure they follow the right steps to keep germs from spreading.
3. Teach others: You will teach health workers and others about how to stop infections. You will show them how to wash their hands and use other ways to keep safe.
4. Help with outbreaks: If many people get sick with the same infection, you will work quickly to stop it from spreading.
5. Keep records: You will write down important information about infections and safety rules. You will also report to bosses and other health workers.
6. Follow health rules: You will make sure that the rules to prevent infections are being followed. This includes cleaning, washing hands, and using safety equipment.
7. Work with other teams: You will talk to other people who are working on public health, like hospitals and health centers, to make sure everyone is working together.
8. Advocate for safety: You will help teach the community about why infection control is important, so people know how to protect themselves.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

To be a good Infection Control Specialist, you should have these skills:

1. Know how infections spread: You should understand how infections happen and how to stop them.
2. Good communicator: You need to be able to explain things clearly, both in talking and writing. You will need to talk to doctors, nurses, and other health workers.
3. Problem solver: You should be good at finding out what’s causing an infection and how to stop it.
4. Pay attention to details: You need to be careful and make sure things are done right to keep people safe.

Preferred Skills:

3. Tech skills: Being able to use a computer to track infection numbers and report them is helpful.
4. Understand different cultures: San Diego has people from many different backgrounds. It helps to understand different cultures when teaching and helping people.

Education and Experience
