Health & Human Services Agency is looking for a Community Health Outreach Manager. Job Summary
As a Community Health Outreach Manager, you will be in charge of making sure health programs reach the people who need them most. You will plan and lead health programs in the community, work with different groups, and help people stay healthy. You will also make sure that health programs are helping people in the best way possible.
This job is for someone who likes to help others, is good at talking to people, and can organize and manage programs. You’ll be working with a team of people to make sure health services reach everyone in San Diego County.
Responsibilities
Here are some of the things you will do in this job:
- Create Health Programs: You will plan health programs to help people in your community. These programs will teach people how to stay healthy and give them the tools to do it.
- Work with the Community: You will meet with local community groups, schools, and health centers to make sure people know about the health programs and services available to them.
- Collect and Look at Data: You will collect information about how well the health programs are working. You’ll use this information to make the programs even better.
- Teach and Share Information: You will help share important health information with the public, like how to stay healthy, where to get help, and how to prevent sickness.
- Lead a Team: You will lead a group of people who are helping with health programs. You will guide them, give advice, and make sure everyone is doing their best work.
- Get Funding: You will help find money to pay for health programs. This could mean writing applications for grants (money to fund programs) and reporting on how well the programs are working.
- Be a Health Advocate: You will talk to local leaders and health organizations to make sure that the health needs of your community are being met.
Qualifications
To do this job, you will need the following:
Required Skills
- Leadership: You should be able to lead a team and make sure everyone is working together to help the community.
- Good Communication: You will need to talk to many people, including community members and your team. It’s important that you can explain things clearly and listen well.
- Experience with Outreach: You should have experience in talking to people or working with groups in your community.
- Understanding of Different Cultures: San Diego County is very diverse, so you should know how to work with people from different backgrounds and understand their health needs.
- Problem-Solving: You should be able to think of solutions to problems and find ways to make things better.
- Organization: This job requires you to plan many different tasks. You will need to keep track of everything to make sure things run smoothly.
- Comfortable Speaking in Public: You will sometimes have to talk to large groups of people, so you need to be confident and clear when you speak.
- Basic Technology Skills: You should know how to use a computer, email, and social media to help share health information.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual: If you speak Spanish (or other languages), it’s a big plus because many people in our community speak different languages.
- Grant Writing: If you know how to write applications to get money for programs, that’s a big help.
- Familiar with Local Health Services: It’s helpful if you know the health programs already available in San Diego County.
Education and Experience
- Education: You need to have a college degree in something like public health, social work, nursing, or a related field.
- Experience: You should have at least 3 years of experience working with health programs or community outreach. It’s also helpful if you’ve worked with teams before.
Location
This job is in San Diego County, CA. You will need to travel around the county to meet people, attend meetings, and visit different community groups. Sometimes, you might have to work evenings or weekends for special events or programs.
