Job Summary
As a Help Desk Specialist, you will be the first person people go to when they need help with their computers or phones. You will help them fix problems, answer questions, and make sure everything is working well. Your job is very important because it helps our team do their best work to help others.
What You’ll Do in This Job
Main Responsibilities
- Help People Use Computers and Phones
When someone has a problem with their computer or phone, you’ll be there to help. You’ll listen to their problem, look for solutions, and make sure they can get back to work quickly. - Fix Technical Issues
You’ll solve problems like a computer not starting or the internet not working. Your job is to find the problem and fix it. - Set Up New Equipment
When a new person starts working, you’ll set up their computer and phone. This way, they have everything they need on their first day. - Keep Records of Problems and Solutions
When you fix a problem, you’ll write down what happened and how you fixed it. This helps us solve problems faster next time. - Assist with Updates
Computers and software need updates to stay safe and work well. You’ll help keep everything up-to-date. - Train People to Use Tools
Sometimes people need help learning how to use their computer or software. You’ll explain things to them in a simple way so they feel comfortable using their tools.
What You Need to Succeed

Required Skills
- Good Communication
You should be able to explain things simply so everyone understands. Being friendly and helpful is important. - Problem Solving
You should enjoy solving problems and be able to think of solutions quickly. - Basic Computer Knowledge
You should know how to use computers and phones well. - Patience and Positivity
It’s important to stay calm and be friendly when helping others, even if they’re frustrated.
Preferred Skills
- Basic Knowledge of IT Systems
Knowing a little about networks and other IT systems can help you understand and fix issues faster. - Experience with Troubleshooting Tools
If you know how to use special tools to find problems, it can make your job easier. - Good at Multi-Tasking
Sometimes you may need to handle more than one request at the same time. Being organized will help.
Education and Experience
To be a great Help Desk Specialist, you should have:
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Customer Service or IT Support Experience (This is not required, but it can help you succeed in this job.)
Location
You’ll work in Harris County, Houston, Texas. You’ll be part of a team that supports people both in our office and sometimes remotely.
