Job Summary
As a Community Health Program Specialist, you will help create and manage health programs in the community. These programs could teach people about healthy eating, exercising, or preventing sickness. You will work with schools, doctors, and local groups to make sure these programs reach people and help them stay healthy.
Job Responsibilities
Here are some of the things you will do in this job:
- Plan Health Programs: You will help create programs that focus on improving people’s health. For example, you might help plan a program that teaches kids how to eat healthy foods or helps adults learn how to exercise.
- Work with Partners: You will work with other groups like schools, hospitals, and community organizations to make sure people know about and can join the health programs.
- Teach the Community: You will help teach people about how to stay healthy. This could mean giving talks, making easy-to-read flyers, or hosting events that show people how to live a healthier life.
- Track Program Success: You will keep track of how well the programs are doing. You will see if people are getting healthier and if they like the programs. If needed, you will make changes to improve the programs.
- Help People: You will be available to answer questions and help people who are part of the health programs. If someone needs more information or help, you’ll be there to assist them.
- Report Results: You will make reports about how the health programs are working. These reports help us know what’s working and what needs to be changed.
- Encourage Health: You will talk to the community about the importance of staying healthy. This might mean talking to people about healthy eating, exercise, and getting regular check-ups.
Qualifications
To be good at this job, you should have the following skills:
Required Skills:
- Great Communication: You need to be able to talk clearly to explain ideas to people. You will also need to write reports and share information with others in an easy way.
- Stay Organized: You will have to keep track of different programs and tasks. It’s important to stay organized and make sure everything is done on time.
- Work with a Team: You will be working with many people, so it’s important to be able to work well with others.
- Problem Solving: Sometimes, things won’t go as planned. You’ll need to find creative solutions to fix problems and make the programs work better.
- Basic Knowledge of Health: It’s helpful if you know a little about health topics like eating well, staying active, and preventing illness.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Health: If you have worked in health or community programs before, that’s a plus! But if you don’t have experience, that’s okay too. We’ll help you learn.
- Bilingual: If you speak more than one language, especially Spanish, that would be very helpful in our community.
- Program Experience: If you have helped run or organize a program before, we would love to hear about it!
- Creative Ideas: If you can think of fun or creative ways to teach people about health, that would be awesome!
Education and Experience
