Job Description: Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care is looking for a friendly and caring Medical Assistant II to join our team in Needham, MA. This is a part-time, per diem job, where you will help patients and make sure the clinic runs smoothly. As a Medical Assistant II, you will work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers to provide excellent care to patients.

Job Details:

- Shift and Schedule: Day Shift
- Work Setting: Outpatient (you’ll work in a doctor’s office or clinic)
- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (this means you are paid for the hours you work)
- Reports To: Practice Manager or Ambulatory Practice Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting Patients: You will welcome patients, help them into exam rooms, and get them ready for their appointment.
- Collecting Information: You will take patients’ vital signs, like weight, blood pressure, and temperature. You may also help with other medical tasks like taking blood, giving shots, or helping with EKGs (tests to check the heart).
- Helping Doctors and Nurses: You will help doctors and nurses by making sure they have all the information they need about patients. This includes getting lab results, medical records, and test results.
- Talking to Patients: You will talk to patients on the phone and in person. You will listen to their questions and help them get the answers they need.
- Organizing Medical Records: You will help keep patient records up to date and make sure that the information is filed correctly in the computer system.
- Training New Team Members: You will teach and help new Medical Assistants and other workers in the clinic. You will share what you know and help them do their best.
- Following Safety Rules: You will help make sure that all safety rules are followed, and that testing and patient care are done properly.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: You need to have a high school diploma or GED.
- Certification: You need to be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- Experience: You should have 1-3 years of work experience in a healthcare setting.
- Skills: You should be comfortable using computers and basic programs like Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, especially in a doctor’s office or clinic.
- Experience with helping in a busy medical office.
Important Skills You’ll Need:
- Writing: You need to be able to write clearly and communicate well in English.
- Talking: You should be able to talk to patients and team members clearly and respectfully.
- Knowledge: You should know how to follow medical procedures and guidelines.
- Teamwork: You must be able to work well with others to make sure things run smoothly.
- Customer Service: You should be friendly and calm when helping patients. If a patient has a problem, you will help solve it.
Physical Demands of the Job:
- You will need to be on your feet and move around during most of your shift.
- The job can be physically demanding. Sometimes you will need to lift up to 50 pounds, and you will move or stand a lot throughout the day.
Working with Different Ages:
- You will help patients of all ages, from babies to older adults. This means you need to be comfortable working with different age groups and understanding their healthcare needs.
