Job Summary
The Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for assessing, supporting, and caring for patients with mental health challenges. In this role, you’ll collaborate with healthcare professionals such as doctors, therapists, and social workers. Responsibilities
Patient Assessment and Support
- Meet with patients to evaluate their mental and emotional health
- Understand patient needs through careful observation and communication
- Assist in creating care plans based on individual assessments
Medication Management
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient reactions
- Educate patients about their medications and potential side effects
- Track and report any changes in patient condition
Therapeutic Interventions
- Provide one-on-one and group support sessions
- Help patients develop healthy coping skills
- Guide patients through emotional challenges using therapeutic techniques
Collaboration and Care Coordination
- Work closely with healthcare providers to coordinate treatment plans
- Communicate clearly with patients, families, and care teams
- Ensure all care meets health and safety guidelines
Crisis Intervention and Advocacy
- Respond to urgent mental health situations with calm, professional care
- Support patients in crisis and help stabilize emotional distress
- Act as an advocate to ensure patients receive appropriate resources and services
Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations
- Document assessments, treatments, and outcomes clearly and efficiently

Required Qualifications
- California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Strong knowledge of mental health nursing practices

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting
- Skills in crisis management and emergency response

Education and Experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- At least one year of mental health nursing experience preferred
