Job Summary

As a Mental Health Clinician with us, your main job is to help people who need support with their mental health. You will talk with clients to understand their needs and create plans to help them feel better. You will also provide counseling to help them work through their feelings and challenges.

Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Clinician, here are some of the things you will do:

• Talk to clients: You will meet with clients (individuals, families, or groups) to listen to their problems and provide support.
• Understand the problem: You will ask questions and use different ways to understand what the client is going through. This might include doing interviews or tests.
• Create treatment plans: Based on what you learn, you will work with the client to make a plan to help them feel better.
• Help with tough situations: Sometimes, people need help quickly because they are in a crisis. You will be there to support them and make sure they get the care they need.
• Work with others: You will talk to other workers, such as doctors, social workers, and teachers, to make sure your clients are getting all the help they need.
• Keep records: You will write down important information about the client’s progress to make sure they are getting better.
• Help families: You will teach clients and their families ways to manage mental health and how to stay healthy emotionally.

Qualifications

To do this job well, we are looking for someone who has the following skills:

Required Skills:

• Good Communication: You should be able to talk clearly and listen carefully to others. This is important for understanding your clients’ needs.
• Empathy: It’s important to show you care and understand how others feel. You should be kind and patient with clients.
• Problem-solving: You need to be able to figure out how to help someone when they are going through tough situations.
• Ability to Stay Calm: Sometimes clients may need help in emergencies. You should be able to stay calm and help people who are having a hard time.
• Teamwork: You will work with a group of other people. It’s important that you can work well with others to help the clients.
• Respect for Privacy: It’s very important that you keep people’s personal information safe and private.

Preferred Skills:

• Therapy knowledge: It’s helpful if you know different types of therapy, like talking therapy or behavioral therapy.
• Speaking another language: If you can speak Spanish or another language, that’s a big plus, because it helps us serve more people in our community.
• Experience with different groups of people: If you have worked with people from different backgrounds or with different needs, that’s great!

Education and Experience

Here’s what you need to be qualified for this job:

• Education: You need to have a Master’s Degree in a field like Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or something similar.
• License: You also need to have a license from California to work in this field, like an LCSW, LMFT, or similar.
• Experience: You should have at least one year of experience helping people with their mental health, especially in a setting like a clinic or school.

This job is based in San Diego County, California. San Diego is a beautiful city with great weather, beaches, and lots of things to do. You’ll work in different places around the county, like clinics, offices, or community centers.
