Job Summary

The Health Services Technician is a very important job. You will be helping doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers with their work. You will help take care of patients, keep records, and make sure everything runs smoothly at health clinics or community health programs.

Key Responsibilities

Here are some of the things you will do as a Health Services Technician:

• Help Patients: You will help people check in for their appointments, make them feel welcome, and assist with things like filling out forms or scheduling appointments.
• Assist with Health Tasks: You might help measure things like a person’s temperature or blood pressure, clean up the rooms, and make sure everything is ready for doctors or nurses.
• Keep Records: You will help keep track of important information about patients, like their health history or medications. This helps doctors and nurses take good care of them.
• Teach Health Tips: Sometimes, you will help patients understand how to stay healthy, like teaching them about exercise, healthy eating, and getting regular check-ups.
• Work with Healthcare Workers: You will work closely with doctors, nurses, and other people in the clinic to make sure everything goes well and people get the care they need.
• Help in the Community: You might also help in health programs and activities to spread the word about staying healthy.

You will need to be flexible and ready to help wherever needed, so being a good team player is very important.

• Teamwork: You will work with a lot of different people, so being a good team member is important!

Preferred Skills

There are a few skills that are not required, but will help you stand out:

• Experience in Healthcare: If you’ve worked or volunteered in a healthcare setting before, it will be helpful.
• Speak Other Languages: If you know how to speak more than one language, that will help you talk to more people in your community.
• Know Some Medical Terms: If you know basic medical words or phrases, that can be useful, but it’s not a must.

Education and Experience

Education

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.: You must have finished high school or have an equivalent certificate.
• Extra Health Classes (Optional): If you have taken any health-related classes, it’s a plus, but not required.

Experience

• Healthcare or Customer Service Experience (Helpful): If you’ve ever worked in a healthcare setting or helped customers in a store or office, this will be helpful but not required.

If you don’t have experience, don’t worry! We are happy to teach you the skills you need to succeed.
