Job Summary
As an Elder Abuse Prevention Coordinator, you will work to stop elder abuse and make sure older adults are safe. You will teach people about the signs of abuse and help connect seniors with the resources they need. You will also work with other groups like hospitals, police, and community centers to prevent elder abuse in the community.
This job is important because it helps protect some of the most vulnerable people in our society—our seniors. You will be able to make a real impact by working to prevent abuse and supporting older adults who need help.
Responsibilities
In this job, you will have many important tasks. Here are some of your main responsibilities:
1. Create and Manage Programs
- You will help create programs to teach people how to prevent elder abuse.
- You will work with different organizations to make sure seniors are safe and protected.
- You will keep track of how well the programs are working and make changes if needed.
2. Teach and Train People
- You will give talks and trainings to people who work with seniors, like doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
- You will teach the community about elder abuse and how to spot it.
- You will make materials like brochures or videos to help people understand elder abuse better.
3. Work with the Community
- You will talk to different groups and organizations to spread the word about elder abuse prevention.
- You will help make sure seniors have the services they need to stay safe.
- You will work with local leaders to make the community a safer place for older adults.
4. Help Seniors Who Need It
- You will help older adults who might be in danger of abuse by connecting them to help.
- You will make sure seniors know where to go for support, like doctors, lawyers, and social workers.
- You will work to make sure that all seniors are treated with kindness and respect.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has certain skills and abilities to be successful in this job. Here’s what we’re looking for:
Required Skills:
- Good Communication: You should be able to explain things clearly, both in writing and when speaking to others.
- Organized: You need to be able to manage different tasks and keep everything on track.
- Problem Solver: You should be able to figure out solutions to problems when they come up.
- Caring and Compassionate: You should care deeply about helping older adults and want to make a positive difference in their lives.
- Understand Different People: You will work with people from different cultures, so it’s important to be respectful and understand their needs.
- Know About Elder Abuse: It’s important to know what elder abuse is and how to recognize it.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in Public Health or Social Work: If you’ve worked with people in need before, that’s a big plus!
- Leadership Skills: If you have experience leading teams or groups, it would be helpful.
- Writing Grants: If you know how to write to get money for programs or services, that’s an extra skill we’d appreciate.
Education and Experience
Here’s what you need to qualify for this job:
- Education: You need a high school diploma or equivalent. A college degree in social work, public health, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: You should have at least 3 years of experience working in jobs where you helped people, especially older adults. This could be in social work, healthcare, or any job that helps people in need.

Salary and Benefits
