Job Summary
As an Animal Care Technician, you will have an important job. You will take care of different kinds of animals every day. Your main tasks will include feeding them, cleaning their spaces, and watching for any signs of sickness. Responsibilities
In your job as an Animal Care Technician, you will have many responsibilities, including:
- Feeding Animals: You will prepare food and feed different animals to keep them healthy.
- Cleaning: You will clean the animals’ homes to keep them safe and comfortable. This includes changing bedding and cleaning water bowls.
- Watching Animals: You will watch for any signs that an animal is sick or not feeling well and let the veterinarians know.
- Handling Animals: You will gently hold and care for animals during check-ups and treatments, making sure they feel safe.
- Keeping Records: You will write down important information about the animals, like what they eat and how they are feeling.
- Helping with Treatments: You will help veterinarians give medicine and take care of animals that are not feeling well.
- Talking to the Public: You will answer questions from people who want to learn more about the animals and help them find pets to adopt.
- Promoting Adoption: You will help people choose pets that are right for them and tell them how to take care of their new friends.
Qualifications
To become an Animal Care Technician, you need to have some special skills and experiences:
Required Skills
- Animal Handling: You should know how to take care of different kinds of animals, like dogs, cats, and small pets.
- Communication: You need to be able to talk to your team and to people who come to the facility.
- Teamwork: You must work well with others. We want to create a positive and friendly workplace.
- Problem Solving: You should be able to think quickly and help animals in need.
Preferred Skills
