Key Responsibilities
As a Tactical Operations Commander, you will have several key responsibilities:
Main Duties
- Lead Tactical Teams: Manage a team of officers during emergencies like hostage situations and dangerous arrests.
- Create and Execute Plans: Make plans that protect the public and officers, ensuring everyone stays safe.
- Work with Other Teams: Communicate with other teams like firefighters and emergency response groups to work together during crises.
- Direct Emergency Operations: Take control during emergency situations, make quick decisions, and ensure everything runs smoothly.
- Organize Training: Conduct training exercises to help your team be prepared for any crisis.
- Report and Improve: After each operation, review what went well and what could be improved to keep learning and getting better.
Team Management
- Lead and Guide: Supervise and give directions to your team, helping them follow all safety protocols.
- Evaluate Team Performance: Regularly assess how your team members are doing and offer tips for improvement.
- Provide Resources: Make sure your team has all the tools and equipment they need to do their job well.
Qualifications and Skills

Required Skills

- Similar Experience: Previous work in law enforcement or military is a big plus.
- Local Knowledge: Know the County of San Diego area well, which will help during responses.
