What You’ll Do
As a Patient Finance Representative, your daily tasks will include:
- Answering Patient Questions: You will help patients understand their medical bills and insurance. If they don’t understand something, you will explain it to them.
- Verifying Insurance: You will check if a patient’s insurance will cover their medical costs. You will also contact insurance companies to confirm this.
- Providing Estimates: You will help patients know how much their medical care will cost before they get it. This is called a “cost estimate.”
- Collecting Payments: You will work with patients to make sure they pay their medical bills. You will also help them understand their payment options.
- Offering Financial Help: Some patients may need help paying their bills. You will explain different ways they can get help with their medical costs.
- Working with Other Healthcare Workers: You will talk to doctors, nurses, and other staff to make sure everything related to billing and insurance is correct.
- Handling Work Queues: You will check lists of tasks, like making sure insurance is verified or payments are collected, and finish them on time.
- Being Professional: You will talk to patients and insurance companies politely and professionally. It’s important to stay calm and helpful, even if the patient is upset.
Qualifications
