Job Summary
As the Epidemiologist Team Lead, you will manage a group of epidemiologists and data experts. Your main job will be to look at health data to find out what is happening in our community. You will help identify health problems, study how they affect people, and create plans to improve health. This job is perfect for someone who enjoys leading others and loves solving health puzzles.
Responsibilities
In this job, you will have many important tasks to complete:
Lead the Team
- Guide and support your team of epidemiologists and data analysts.
- Hold regular meetings to discuss projects and share new ideas.
- Help team members learn and grow in their careers.
Research Health Issues
- Create studies to find out more about health problems in the community.
- Analyze health data using computers and prepare reports to share with others.
- Work with local health departments to collect important data.
Develop Health Programs
- Create programs to help improve health based on what you learn from your research.
- Work with health officials to design projects that encourage healthy habits.
- Check how well health programs work and suggest improvements.
Engage with the Community
- Talk to community members about health issues and the resources available to them.
- Share your findings with community leaders and the public.
- Support policies that help improve health in the community.
Qualifications
To do well in this job, you should have the following skills:
Required Skills
- Leadership: You should be good at guiding and motivating your team.
- Analytical Skills: You need to be able to look at complicated data and make sense of it.
- Communication: You should be able to explain health information clearly to different people.
- Problem-Solving: You should enjoy finding new ways to solve health problems.
Preferred Skills
- Project Management: Experience managing projects is helpful.
- Community Engagement: Knowing how to work well with different groups in the community is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with data analysis tools, like Excel or SPSS, is beneficial.
Education and Experience
- A Master’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. is preferred but not necessary.
- You should have at least 5 years of experience in epidemiology or public health, with 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience working with community health programs is a big plus.
