As a Community Engagement Liaison, you will help spread the word about the programs and services HHSA offers. You’ll be working with families, groups, and other organizations to make sure everyone knows about the support available to them. This job is all about helping others and making our community a better place!
Job Summary
The Community Engagement Liaison is someone who connects the Health & Human Services Agency with people in the community. You will help people understand how to access services and make sure everyone feels supported. Your job is important because you’ll be helping us reach out to people who may need help with things like health services, social services, and more. You will also work with community groups to make sure programs meet everyone’s needs.

Key Responsibilities
As a Community Engagement Liaison, you will be doing many things to make sure the community knows about the services available. Here’s what your main duties will look like:
1. Talk to the Community
- Go to community events, meetings, and other activities to tell people about HHSA services.
- Build strong relationships with local groups, schools, businesses, and leaders to spread the word about services.
- Listen to people in the community to understand what they need and make sure services are helpful to them.
2. Help with Programs
- Work with the team to create new programs that meet the needs of the community.
- Help make sure programs are easy to access and available to everyone.
- Make sure all programs are respectful of the community’s culture and needs.
3. Keep Track of Work
- Write down how well the outreach programs are doing and share this with the team.
- Collect feedback from the community to see what’s working and what needs to improve.
4. Assist People
- Help people understand how to sign up for services and programs.
- Answer questions and provide support to anyone who needs help.
5. Spread Information
- Help create and share flyers, newsletters, and posts to tell people about HHSA services.
- Use websites and social media to make sure people know about available programs.
Required Skills
To do well in this job, you need to have some important skills. Here are the key skills we’re looking for:
Required Skills
- Good Communication Skills: You should be able to talk clearly with people from different backgrounds. You need to explain things in a way that’s easy for everyone to understand.
- Community Experience: It helps if you have experience working with people or groups in the community. This could be from volunteer work, school activities, or past jobs.
- Problem-Solving: Sometimes you will need to help fix problems or find ways to help people get the services they need. You should be able to think of creative solutions.
- Respect for Diversity: Our community is made up of many different people from many different backgrounds. You need to be respectful and understand the needs of everyone, including people who speak different languages or come from different cultures.
- Helping Others: You should enjoy helping people and be friendly and kind when you talk to others.
- Organizing Skills: You will need to keep track of different tasks and be able to organize your time well.
- Basic Computer Skills: You should be able to use basic computer programs like Word, Excel, and the internet.
Preferred Skills
- Speaking Multiple Languages: If you can speak more than one language, that’s a big plus! It’s especially helpful if you speak languages that are common in San Diego, like Spanish or Tagalog.
- Experience with Social Services: If you have worked with programs that help people in need, that will be helpful for this job.
- Public Speaking: If you are comfortable speaking to groups of people, that’s a bonus. You might have to present at community events.
Education and Experience
Education:
- High School Diploma: You need to have finished high school or have an equivalent certificate.
- Some College or Training: If you have some college education or training in things like social work, public health, or communication, that’s helpful but not required.
Experience:
- It’s helpful if you’ve worked in jobs where you had to talk to or help people, like in customer service or volunteering.
- 1-2 years of experience in outreach or community work is a plus, but it’s not necessary.
Salary and Benefits
This job offers a good salary and many benefits to help you take care of yourself and your family. The salary range is $50,000 to $65,000 per year, depending on your experience and skills.
