Job Summary
As a Disability Services Coordinator, you will help people with disabilities find and use services that improve their lives. You will make sure that they get the help they need, whether it’s for healthcare, education, housing, or other important needs.
You will also work with other groups and organizations to make sure people with disabilities are treated fairly. Your job will include working directly with individuals, helping them solve problems, and creating plans to help them live more independently.

Responsibilities
As a Disability Services Coordinator, your main job tasks will include:
- Helping People with Disabilities: You will help people with disabilities get the services they need, like healthcare, financial support, education, or job help.
- Managing Cases: You will keep track of people’s cases to make sure they are getting the right help on time.
- Making Plans: You will meet with people to understand their needs and help make a plan to get them the support they need.
- Teaching the Community: You will talk to groups in the community to teach them about services for people with disabilities. You might hold workshops or give presentations.
- Being an Advocate: You will speak up for people with disabilities, making sure they are treated fairly and equally in all areas of life.
- Record Keeping: You will keep records of the services provided and make reports to show how well the program is working.
- Working with Others: You will work with other helpers like social workers, doctors, and schools to make sure people with disabilities get the best care.
- Helping in Emergencies: If someone has an urgent need, you will be there to help them quickly.
Qualifications

Required Skills:
- Good Communication: You should be able to explain things clearly and listen carefully to others.
- Problem Solving: You should be able to figure out how to help people solve problems and find the best solutions.
- Kindness and Patience: You should care about helping others and be patient when working with people who need extra help.
- Organization: You need to stay organized to keep track of all the different people you help.
- Attention to Detail: You should pay attention to small details to make sure everything is done right.
- Knowledge of Disability Services: It helps if you know about programs and services for people with disabilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Social Services: If you have worked in jobs that help people before, that’s a big plus.
- Cultural Awareness: Being able to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures is helpful.
- Leadership: If you’ve led teams or helped others in a leadership role, it will help you in this job.
- Tech Skills: It’s useful if you know how to use computers, like Microsoft Word or Excel, and can use programs to keep track of cases.
Education and Experience
- Education: You need to have at least a high school diploma or GED. A college degree in fields like Social Work, Psychology, or something similar is preferred but not required.
- Experience: We’d like it if you have at least two years of experience helping people or working in social services, but it’s okay if you don’t.
Location
The job is based in San Diego County, California. You will be working in the community and at our office to help people who need support.
