Job Summary:
As a Mental Health Program Coordinator, your main job will be to manage and oversee mental health programs that help people in the community. You will make sure the programs are working well and that everyone who needs help is getting the care they deserve. You will also work closely with doctors, counselors, and other people to make sure everything runs smoothly. This job is all about helping people feel better and improving their mental health.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Mental Health Program Coordinator, here are the things you will do:
1. Plan and Manage Programs:
- You will help create and organize mental health programs for people in the community.
- You will make sure these programs are following the rules and are effective in helping people feel better.
- You will check to see if the programs are working well and make changes if needed to improve them.
2. Work with Other Professionals:
- You will work closely with doctors, counselors, and other people who help with mental health.
- You will make sure everyone involved in the program knows what they need to do and works together as a team.
- You will talk to people in the community and explain the mental health services available to them.
3. Help People in Need:
- You will talk to people who need help with mental health and guide them to the right services.
- You will track how well people are doing and make sure they keep getting the help they need.
4. Collect Information and Write Reports:
- You will keep track of information about the programs and the people using them.
- You will write reports about how the programs are doing and share them with other people who need to know.
- You will look at the data to find ways to make the programs better.
5. Train and Help Other Workers:
- You will help train other people who work with you on the mental health programs.
- You will make sure everyone understands their jobs and how to help people in the best way possible.
Qualifications:
To be a good Mental Health Program Coordinator, you need some important skills and qualities. Here is what we are looking for:
Required Skills:
- Good Communication Skills:Â You need to be able to talk to people clearly and listen to them. This includes speaking and writing.
- Organizational Skills:Â You need to be good at keeping track of many things at once and making sure everything gets done on time.
- Problem-Solving:Â You should be able to think of ways to fix problems that come up and find the best solution.
- Empathy and Compassion:Â You should be kind and understanding when talking to people who may be going through tough times.
- Leadership:Â You will be leading a team, so you need to be able to guide and support others.
- Knowledge of Mental Health:Â You should know about common mental health issues and how to help people who have them.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Mental Health Programs: If you have worked with mental health programs before, that’s a big plus!
- Cultural Sensitivity: It’s important to understand and respect different cultures and work with people from different backgrounds.
- Data Skills: If you know how to collect and understand information about programs and people, it’s a big help.
- Public Speaking: If you’re comfortable speaking in front of a group or presenting information, that’s great!
Education and Experience:
To apply for this job, you will need some education and experience:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field is required.
- A Master’s degree in a related field is great, but not necessary.
Experience:
- You need to have at least 2-3 years of experience working in a similar role or in mental health.
- Experience working with people in the community or in mental health services is a big plus.
- If you have experience helping people directly, that’s also really important.
Location:
This job is in Harris County, Houston, Texas. You will need to be able to get to work in this area regularly. We want someone who is ready to be a part of this community and help the people who live here.
