Job Summary
As a mobile Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), you’ll bring healthcare to different neighborhoods in Harris County. This means you’ll travel to places where people might not have easy access to a doctor or nurse. You’ll help patients with basic healthcare, check-ups, and teach them about staying healthy.
This is a great job for nurses who enjoy meeting people and making healthcare accessible to everyone.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
Here’s what you’ll do as an LVN on our mobile team:
Patient Care
- Take care of patients by doing things like checking blood pressure, changing bandages, and giving medicine (if a doctor says it’s okay).
- Talk to patients about how they feel and answer their questions.
- Keep an eye on how each patient is doing and tell the main nurse or doctor if there are any changes.
Community Health Support
- Travel to different places in Harris County with the mobile health unit.
- Offer basic health checks like vaccinations, blood pressure, and sugar level checks to help people stay healthy.
- Teach people about healthy habits and share information about helpful health resources in the community.
Record Keeping
- Write down what you do with each patient in their medical record.
- Share this information with our healthcare team to help track the health needs of people in our community.
- Take care of the medical supplies and equipment used in the mobile unit.
Teamwork and Communication
- Work well with other nurses, doctors, and public health staff.
- Help connect patients to other health services they may need.
- Be kind and respectful to everyone you meet, making patients feel safe and welcome.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Nursing License: You must have a valid LVN license to work in Texas.
- Communication Skills: Able to talk with patients, families, and team members clearly and kindly.
- Observation Skills: Can notice how a patient is feeling and if their condition changes.
- Organization: Can manage time well, especially when traveling to different places.
- Basic Computer Skills: Know how to use computers to keep patient records up to date.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual (English & Spanish): If you can speak both English and Spanish, that’s a bonus.
- Experience in Mobile Health: If you’ve worked in mobile healthcare before, that’s great but not required.
- Teaching Patients: Know how to teach people about good health habits.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Able to think quickly to help patients when needed.
Education and Experience
- Education: Completed training to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
- Experience: It’s great if you have 1-2 years of experience, but new LVNs who are passionate about helping people are also encouraged to apply.
Location
You will work in Harris County, Houston, Texas. This is a mobile job, so you’ll travel to different areas within the county to help patients. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are needed.
