Job Summary
As an Emergency Management Planner, you will help create and improve plans for what to do when emergencies happen in our community. Responsibilities
In your role as an Emergency Management Planner, you will have many important tasks, such as:
- Creating and updating emergency plans to prepare for disasters like earthquakes, fires, or public health issues.
- Studying risks to understand what dangers our community faces.
- Planning training programs and practice drills so everyone knows what to do in an emergency.
- Working with local, state, and federal agencies to make sure we all work together during emergencies.
- Teaching the community about being prepared and what resources are available to help them.
- Keeping emergency response materials updated, like contact lists and action plans.
- Looking at how well our emergency plans work and finding ways to improve them.
Qualifications

Education and Experience

- At least two years of experience in emergency management or a similar job, like working for the government or a non-profit organization.
- Certification in emergency management (like from FEMA) is a plus but not required.
